Press the measure network performance button to measure and display latency and throughput results in the event log window.
Measure Network Performance Results
Latency
Displays the RSM position number, and the latency average time. The average time is the result of the RSM stepping through a range of frequencies. sweeping at each step, and returning each trace. The average time for the trace to return is recorded in the Event log window as the latency: time. A very good number is < 20 ms. (< 0.02 seconds). An okay number is < 150 ms. Marginal is less than 400 ms. Higher produces a warning message that measurements will be difficult.
Throughput
A capture and download of a series of IQ data sets, then divide the total number of bytes by the total elapsed time. A good value is > 5 MB/sec. Okay is > 1MB/sec. Marginal is >.5 MB/sec. Lower will impact measurement capability.
GPS
A test for whether or not the unit has a GPS fix. The direct response from the ‘fetch:gps?’ SCPI command. The clocks on each RSM need to be synchronize. The time will change with each measurement based on how long the throughput test takes. Normally this is a couple of seconds. The time displayed should be consistent.
