Setting Up Email Notifications
The Vision Acquire Program provides a user interface screen to set up email notifications of the signal trace status.
The settings in this example can be used to setup and monitor the Vision Simulator Program.
Email Notifications – File Folder Location
1. Click the folder icon at bottom-right. See Figure: Email Notifications – File Folder Location. Browse to the database folder that has been created.
2. Set the sweep time to obtain sweep data.
3. Set automatically archive trace tables.
4. Set ‘Archive every’ to 3 hours.
If you have no emails in the Notification box, add you email by clicking on the green ‘+’ button.
5. Check Sweep and Day check boxes.
6. Click the Gear icon button to configure the email service.
7. Use the settings to the left to configure the email service. Create a password.
8. Click ‘Test’ enter your email address, and watch for an email confirming the configuration will work.
9. Click ‘Ok’.
10. Click 1 hour for Maximum e-mail rate.
11. Click Sweep probes.
Watch the display, the Green progress bar should move across the bottom every 3 seconds.
12. Click ‘View Log’, Scroll to the bottom of the log file.
13. Verify that there is activity, but no error reports.
The log should update and auto-scroll every few seconds.
14. Click the ‘X’ in the upper right-hand corner of the Acquire window. This will hide but not close Acquire.

The toolbar icons used for notifications settings are shown below in Table: Email Status Icons.

Generate Status Report: A report titled Vision Monitor Failure and Status Report is generated and placed in the default browser.
Send Email to Selected Address: Click to immediately send an email to the listed email recipients with the list of traces in the database.
Configure e-mail: Click to open the Email Configuration dialog as shown below. Enter the Host name and Port Number of the email server. If the User Authentication box is checked, enter the User name and Password for the email account listed. If needed, refer to your IT administrator for assistance and the necessary information.
The Notification Options: List provides the time interval the email notification will be sent.
The “Only report frequent failures”: Click the check box with the Percentage threshold provides a limit of notifications to channels whose failure rate exceeds a set percentage.
Test: Click to display an Enter Recipient dialog as shown below. Adding an email and clicking OK will send a test email to verify email server configuration.
Delete an email address: Click to delete an email address from the Notifications list. A prompt will display to confirm you want to remove the email from the list. Click Yes and the email is deleted.
Add new email address: Click to add a new email to the Notifications list. A box containing [New] will be listed under the Email Address column. Type the email address into that box.
