System Setup
Device Driver for MS Window
The power sensor device drivers, .inf file, should be installed in Microsoft Windows. The device driver contains the device specific configuration or settings, such as USB Vendor ID (VID) and Product ID (PID), to bring the senor online. The device driver can be installed manually, or automatically installed by the PowerXpert installation. To install manually, the device driver files are located in PowerXpert’s default installation driver folder, which can be found in C:\Program Files (x86)\Anritsu\PowerXpert\Drivers, or user selected installation path: \and MA243x0A.
Remote Programming Interface
The MA241xxA power sensors utilize Serial over USB communication, so remote commands can be sent to power sensor manually or using standard serial port connection. For manual command operation, a serial port terminal application, such as Windows XP HyperTerminal can be used. For automated command operation, an application such as PowerXpert, can connect to the power sensor using a standard serial port connection. Information on a demo application and its source code can be found in MA241xxA Series Demo Application.
The MA241xxA Series Power Sensors are also compatible with National Instruments VISA through serial connection.
The MA242x8A and MA243x0A power sensors utilize USB 2.0 technology for speed, which requires applications to use USB application programming interface (API) to communicate with power sensor. PowerXpert utilizes the Anritsu Sensor Driver. Information on an Anritsu Sensor Driver demo application and its source code can be found in Using the MA242x8A, MA243x0A Series Demo Application.
The MA242x8A and MA243x0A Series Power Sensors can also be controlled remotely using National Instruments VISA using USB raw mode.
