Chapter Overview
This chapter explains the background, types, and methods of pulse measurement enabled by the MS464xB Series VNA.
Option 35, IF Digitizer, includes a fast IF digitizer to accomplish a variety of measurements with very high resolution.
Option 42, PulseView™, includes software to control the four pulse generators as well as the user interface to perform pulse measurements.
Combined, Options 35 and 42 provide the ability to generate singlet, doublet, triplet, quadruplet, and burst pulses and to perform pulse profile, point-in-pulse, and pulse-to-pulse measurements.
Optional Pulse Modulator Test Sets are also available to pulse the RF stimulus or to provide receive-side modulation; the latter being very helpful in certain antenna and related applications.
Option 36 is a memory upgrade for Option 35 that has 8 GB for data instead of the usual 2 GB which allows for greater record lengths and longer acquisition times at the same sampling resolution. The impact of this addition will be discussed at relevant points in this chapter.
